Protecting Lake Dambel (Ziway) through Community Based Integrated Watershed Management
The project is planned to achieve the objective of conserving the Lake through holistic and integrated watershed management. The local community, private sectors who have direct contact with resource, local and regional government institutions will be directly engaged on this two years project of nearly 2,000,000 birr project. Local land use practice which has direct impact on the lake and surrounding biodiversity will be influenced to be changed by the project to make them safe and sustainable practice for the lakes and its bio-systems. Socioeconomic integration of the local economy with the private investors in the area is made to create their collaborative effort to saving the lake. Government will be part of the project to commit its commitment at different levels. All three level partners will pass laws by which they will be governed in protecting the lake and use it sustainably
