Enhance Climate Smart Agricultural Practices for Sustainable Development in Uddo Wotate Kebele
The association organized to solve the current problems of the kebele as well as the community caused by land degradation. The association plan to solve the problem using different conservation works that is implemented in 2 years starting from June, 2019 ? May, 2021. The CBO has planned different activities such as soil fertility management, soil and water conservation structures, fodder development, livestock varieties improvement, and so on to alleviate above mentioned problems which will be implemented on individual owned degraded farm land. And also the association has planned off farm activities such as production and utilization of fuel efficient cook stoves, and other different IGA practices to cope the climate induced shocks and food insecurity problem of the community. In order to enhance agro-forestry practices by avoiding miss use of biomass the association strongly creates awareness on the use of fuel efficient stoves and afforestation in all members of the association.
The people in the kebele mainly practiced traditional agriculture with major emphasis on householders? fragmented farming and backyard farming with some animal husbandry. ?Enset? is the major perennial crop which is commonly found in most of the backyards of the farmers. Besides of the past experience of the community the national resources damaged by unwise uses of natural resources which causes the sever problems in land degradation, deforestation, loss of production and food insecurity
