Education E-learning portal in Ecological Agriculture
This Project was initiated to contribute to solving of global problems and it matches perfectly within the Component 2 PGM of EO6: Climate Smart Innovative Agro-ecology. To contribute to this component it is proposed to reach the general objective of the Project: Popularize the application of harmless and environmental friendly practices. This can be reached by creation of an alternative possibility of farmers? information.
In the last 5 years a decrease of farmers? interest towards traditional training methods is noticed. Once with informational development, the main sourse of information for farmers has become the internet. This is well reflected in a study made by MOVCA on the topic ?Information needs on organic agriculture of farmers from the Republic of Moldova?, which has been realized in the beginning of 2019. From the collected data, we have noticed that the most used sources for information accessed daily are social networks (13,7%), followed by specialized web pages (10,9%), search engines (10,2%), TV shows and reportages (9,4%), television (8,6%), email (8,4%), specialized TV channels (7,9%), youtube (7,1%). Other daily informative methods accessed by respondents with a total share of 24%, but insignificant in particular, are: mobile apps (3,6%), newspapers (2,5%), books (2,0%), brochures and guides (1,8%), radio (1,8%), specialized portals (1,8%), short technical sheets and flyers (1,3%), as well as discussions with businessmen, experts in organic farming, public institutions, consulting companies, specialized forums, relevant ministry.
Taking into account all these, MOVCA came up with the idea to create an online training platform, which allows farmers and students to get trained at the most convenient time and place with a minimal usage of resources. The E-learning platform will contain chapters on different topics (6 for the beginning). Each chapter will be specialized on a topic and will contain visual information accompanied by theoretical information. The Project proposes to create short videos directly from the field that conduct to a better understanding of the subject, save time and other resources. To ensure the comprehension of the material, after each chapter a short test will be conducted.
The E-learning platform will become an useful and handy tool for farmers and for students as well. On a later stage, the platform can be completed with additional ?chapters? according to the identified needs of farmers. The advantage of the Association is the sustainability of MOVCA allows the platform to stay active and get improved along the time. Another important resource are members of the Association that will be the first users and a great source of inspiration for the development of the platform.
