Liberia?s Country Programme Strategy (CPS) for Operational Phase Seven (OP7)
Project Title: Proposal to Develop SGP OP7 Country Programme Strategy (OP7 CPS)
The background of this proposal comes from the call for proposal to develop Liberia?s Country Programme Strategy (CPS) for Operational Phase Seven (OP7) that will be prepared to support non-governmental organizations and Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) to build their capacities and provide funds for management of natural resources both within the protected areas and their buffer zones; conservation of environment in productive landscapes; productive uses of renewable energy that are environmentally sound; support innovative demonstrations and capacity building work in sustainable land management practices and other innovative capacity building in cost effective technologies which may lead to the reduction and elimination of Persistent Organic Pollutants (POP). In addition, the OP-7 strategic programme will seek to reconcile global environmental goals with the Government of Liberia New development agenda ?The Pro Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development? and work towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to improve the income generating capacity of the vulnerable population thereby working towards efforts of Liberia and utilization of community protected areas within the biological hot-spots outside the gazette forest reserves. As indicated in the OP7 project document, the programme will develop strategy for social inclusion as well.
As spelled out in the call for proposal, OP7 implementation aims at promoting and supporting innovative, inclusive and scalable initiatives, and foster multi stakeholder partnerships at the local level to tackle global environmental issues in priority landscapes and seascapes.
Based on the above, the Liberian Endangered Species Association (LESA) is pleased to submit this project proposal to conduct the assessment as per the ToR outlined in the call for proposal.
The performance period of this assessment is four (4) months, starting September, 2019. The project total budget is twenty five thousand United States Dollars (USD 25,000). The total amount requested from SGP is twenty five thousand United States Dollars (USD 25,000.00).
