Community Farming cum Integrated Farming Project
The project will help conserve the overall environment of the village Kot Mohammad Amir. It will also promote the forestation process. The specific objectives of the project are as follows:
To help promote the concept of environment conservation in the village Kot Mohammad Amir and educate the local people in different concepts related to environment. To strengthen the process of afforestation in the village and curb the practices of environment degradation through concerted efforts.
The project has two components:
Distribution of 5000 saplings to the farmers.
Establishment of a communal farm on 12.5 acres.
In the first instance 5000 plants of different species (mainly popular, eucalyptus, papaya, fruits and vegetables will be distributed among the farmers to grow these trees on their farm lines and courtyards of their homes. These farmers will also be provided necessary training and skills to nurture those trees. The remaining 5000 saplings of different species will be cultivated on an 12.5 acres of land, negotiated on lease from landlords in village Kot Mohammad Amir and will be nurtured collectively and the rewards will be put into a community benefit project.
Initially twelve and a half acres of land will be acquired on lease on Rs.3000.00 per year. A six members supervisory committee will be formed to facilitate in program operation and will help the organization to run the day to day project.
Expected results of the project will be: I) 1720 community members will be conscious about the importance of participatory development ii) The whole community will get the opportunity to get loans,. Their income will be raised and economic conditions will become better iii) Literacy rate will be higher and people will be conscious about the importance of education.
