Establish a marine CCA to protect the Shark Fish in Qeshm Island
Shark and Ray fish are very much in decline globally and close to 30 endangered species have been identified near the Qeshm Island. Considering that fisheries on the western part of the island is still very prominent, the project proposes to reduce unsustainable fishing that affects Shark and Ray fish, by establishing a CCA in about 300 square kilometers of water, which is an important nursery and feeding ground for Ray and Shark fish. In return, the local community could benefit from ecotourism and marketing of local handicrafts.
