Identification of CCAs in Hara Forest (Biosphere Reserve) of Qeshm Island
Identification of CCAs in Hara Forest (Biosphere Reserve) of Qeshm Island
Mangrove forest of Qeshm Island (6300ha) is the largest in the Persian Gulf and is both a Ramsar Site and a Biosphere Reserve. While this forest was traditionally managed by local communities, in the past decades it has been exposed to various threats such as overfishing, tourism and overharvest. This project aims to gain public participation, especially the local communities living near the forest, to establish and revive CCAs to protect the forest and its biodiversity through hand made.
