Creating positive community behaviours and attitudes towards waste management in Mauke and Mangaia
Creating a positive change in attitudes and behaviours towards waste management in the island of Mauke and Mangaia. The Island Government Association on the Cook Islands has recently begun a project to facilitate a system to improve the management of waste on these two islands in the Southern Group. Process has started building a storage facility and transfer stations for recycling, procuring of can and glass crushers. However, unless peoples attitudes to waste are altered, this project aims to educate and change the behaviour and mind set of the people about proper waste management procedures.
