Environment Education for Community Workers
Environment Education for Community Workers
The objectives of the project centered around increasing the capacity of individuals and NGO?s to include environmental concerns in their work at the community level. To train community workers including primary school teachers as community workers to become aware of environmental issues and problems and to incorporate environmental concerns in their work at the community/mohalla level. To further produce a resource pack on environmental education, which can be used for training community workers.

The activities to be carried out under the banner of the project include two workshops, which were to be organized to help in the preparation of relevant training materials and a resource pack for community workers. The number of participants in the project were to be twenty in each of the two workshops. They were to be primary school teachers and community activists drawn from SAHE?s Mohalla Primary School Project as well as from SAHE?s regional branches in Sialkot,Bahawalnagar and Arifwala and other NGO?s working at the community level. At least 25%of the participants were to be women.

It is expected that forty persons will have been trained to incorporate environmental concerns in their work at the community level. The teachers would also focus on these issues and resource materials were to be made available in the form of educational packages to the community workers and organizations.
