The project ?Preventing of Snow Leopard Poaching Through Establishment of Insurance Scheme Against Hunting of Livestock in Wakhan? implemented in Wakhan National Park for the conservation of Snow leopard? . This project worked with the indigenous communities around Wakhan National Park and benefited about 10 communities. An insurance scheme was established with more than 1000 livestock owner?s voluntary registration. In November 2020, a Snow Leopard attacked the livestock and killed 55 of them. With the enhanced local communities? awareness and existence of insurance scheme, the livestock owners did not kill the Snow Leopard despite It was captured. The communities released the Snow Leopard to the nature. The communities will continue with the scheme.
