Description of Project Activities

Objective 1: to raise the level of awareness on the impact of climate change, air pollution and trading in the area that will minimize the threats of air pollution and reduction of waste in the community

Activity 1.1: developed and distribute booklets with contents of triple (Rs) for communities and local schools in the area. There will be 1,000 copies and awareness printed out. These identification cards will show waste been turn useful products that are in community, these cards will also create constant sensitization amongst community members and local school in the area. Also, construct three (3) large billboards and five (5) small billboards with school signs that will display message on climate change and air pollution awareness in those target communities.

Activity 1.2: organize and facilitate education, awareness workshops for community members in the target areas. These initial education/awareness workshops will bring together community members targeting ten (10) men and twenty (20) women for the project. It will be held to introduce the project and sensitize community members about the issues relating to climate change, air pollution and recycling waste. Posters, flyers will be displayed to the participants of these education workshops. During these meetings community members will also be given the opportunity to share their experience.

Activity 1.3: organize a day training workshop for selected community awareness coordinators. There will be a training workshop organize for five (5) selected coordinators. One community member from each of the six communities targeted will participate in the awareness process. The coordinators will consist of both men and women living within the community. They will be trained to talk to the people in their communities how to reduce, reuse and recycle the waste in their community, the project team of the WEPOL will conduct the two- day training.

Activity 1.4: organize education meeting for school in the communities. These meeting will bring together students at the end of the awareness training in the communities, these young boys and girls will be lectured on the climate change, air pollution and how to reduce, reuse and recycle the waste in their community and earn living for themselves.


Objective 2: to engage local community leaders into dialogues for developing a community action plan favoring the conservation of endangered wildlife in the region.

Activity 2.1: organize and facilitate two (2) two-day consultative meetings with local community leaders in the community. The consultative meetings will bring together participants, the numbers will include local leaders, youth?s leaders, women leaders as well as representative from the disability communitive. The participants will be given a platform to discuss on conservation issues affecting their communities.

Activity 2.2: organize a final general meeting with members in their communities. A follow-up meeting will be held for communities to present their plans to the project team.

Objective 3: to build the capacity of local communities on sustainable alternative livelihoods, source of proteins and incomes.

Activity 3.1: organize and facilitate a three-day training workshop for selected participants in each month. The training will target fifteen-five (15) women and ten (10) men from the different communities. The participants will be trained on how to recycle waste into useful product. This is a pilot training for communities. The participants will be given assorted production materials purchase by the project team.


Activity 3.2: Training materials for local community will be distributed to selected participants, the products will be turn over to the participants that will produce them, lunch will be provided for participants during the training days. Products that will be produced will sell their products for income generation. There will be records taking for daily activities Again, this is a project activity for local community members living in the communities and participants

Notable Community Participation
An in-depth consultation has already taken place, with discussions beginning in 2019 with community and stakeholders representative. This proposal has evolved as a direct result of that consultation process and a pre-project development visit which was undertaken from October by GEF/SGP NC, PwP and key stakeholders
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
Knowledge transfer and capacity building based on personal involvement of local people are at the heart of this project and hence dissemination is an integral aspect of what is planned.
