An intervention program to assist 20 vulnerable youths between ages 12-17 and 10 women whom will be selected based on a criterion. This diversification opportunity program will be situated within 2 acres of land at PSCPA?s lot and will provide service for 5 branches from Orange Walk and Corozal Districts. The participants and PSCPA farmers will be the direct beneficiaries of this project. This project will further benefit more youths and women, whom will be guided by the first champion group of 30. This project is divided into two main Phases. Phase 1: Initiation and Capacity Building and Phase 2: Executing and Implementing. This program will focus on sustainable organic farming which will not only assist in preventing and mitigating child labor in the Sugar Cane Industry, but also help to improve the community?s standard of living. This project complements and strengthens these efforts by placing an emphasis on promoting of gender-sensitive CSA solutions in the Northern region of the Country. The development of Agro-ecological farms increases the ability of the domestic agriculture sector to be less reliant on external inputs and provides a sustainable system of food production, essential for strengthening regional food security.

Healthy eating is becoming increasingly important in consumers? minds. As people realize that health problems are associated with modern lifestyles, interests in healthy eating are escalating. Several restaurants in the Northern part of the country, such as, Maracas Bar and Grill, Nahil Mayab, Cocina Sabor & Corozo Blue?s, just to name a few, are now adapting towards an Eco-friendlier Environment. Therefore, these ideal restaurants will be the main source for locally marketing the products and eventually broaden the road for regional marketing. These products will also be targeted for healthier eating to the feeding programs in Primary and Secondary Schools.
