Promotion of rare local cherry cultivar in the Zagoria National Park
Zagoria National Park is the newest NP in Albania. The park has beautiful landscape and several villages of rich cultural and historic traditions. The area has little road infrastructure, but it has already started to attract tourists that appreciate its untamed nature. The park needs to develop and promote its uniqueness in terms of vistas, taste and traditions. In this context, the project will promote the cultivation of two local cultivars of cherry that used to be highly appreciated in the past. It is expected that this activity and others that will eventually follow in the future will complement the bouquet of attractions that will characterize this park. The project will prepare about 500-700 saplings of the cultivars and distribute to farmers in the park.
