We Earth Child Ecology
We Earth Child Ecology
For a long period of time it has been ignored that ?ECOLOGY" is the subject that should be taken urgently by all countries. The unresolved treaties, the meetings that do not take common decisions are continuing and the growing problems have become one of the reasons of unhappiness and even despair of all individuals from of all the countries on our planet who see the realities and try to approach the issue rationally regardless of race, gender, age.
"School Strike for Climate?, ?Green New Deal? and ?Zero Extinction? headings are more directing our daily speeches. As a result of this situation, environmental actions are increasing inevitably and reaching to a wide range of stakeholders. Numerous ecological problems, such as water security, access to fair food, and territorial sovereignty, which can be defined under the heading of "Global Warming", now take an important place in the daily portfolio of young generation.
This generation, called the "Millenials", could not find any solution but to stand before the society by saying "We have a say in this matter" in order to have a viable climate, a livable earth and a sustainable life for the next 10-20 years.
Our children say to their elders, ?Take your minds" "How dare you?"
The smart people of the countries around the world continue to struggle of ecology for nearly half a century. The generation who began to speak with "There is a problem" took ages, they grew. As with all matters, the issue had to mature and reach saturation. It was almost impossible for those people's passionate and scientifically based discourse not to give awareness to today's children. In other words, it took time for us to come to this day and to fully realize the problems.
Humanity will only be talking about ecologically based stories in the not-too-far future, this is inevitable. In a sense, if we manage to protect our planet with this child-led movement, the tales of subsequent generations will manifest otherwise.
Because there is nothing as important to a living as surviving and sustaining life. It's time to let our children speak until the decision-makers take their minds. Even saying "too late" is not exaggerated.
Acting on these realities and pondering the multifaceted problems of our Earth, and wanting to put their hands under the stone, some people wanted to draw attention to the importance of education for a fairer, more accurate and better future for their children. The ASIP (Another School Is Possible) Model was born out of such a need. Curious Cat, which started to operate under the umbrella of Ankara ASIP Education Cooperative in 2015, set out with the idea that the existing education system requires differentiation. It established an educational unit that regards learning as a part of life, attributes special importance to the individual characteristics of the child and respects the ecological balance. Anal? Kuzulu has started to make camps with various titles for children and their mothers since 2014, acting with similar concerns. Working together for common future concerns and a better future for children, these two organizations came together to form the "We, the Earth" Project.
Only children will talk within the scope of ?We, the Earth" Project, which will be realized by Curious Cat and Anal? Kuzulu together. They have ideas about the future of our world and want to pass them on to the decision makers. Within the framework of the project that we developed together with Anal? Kuzulu under the leadership of Ankara ASIP Education Cooperation, children will make 5-10 minute speeches about various ecological topics.
