Datca Climate Workshop
One of the most important consequences of the global climate change, which we feel more and more of every passing day, is that the gradually decreasing of available fresh water resources and becoming more valuable. Mediterranean basin, Turkey and Datca are the places where the most serious effects of the drought experienced due to climate change. Drought will be our most important problem in the near future if limited resources are not properly used and managed. In this context, ensuring the reduction of greenhouse gas consumption by reducing water consumption and at the same time developing and revising the water and wastewater infrastructure of cities within the scope of adaptation to climate change are among our basic needs. Reuse of treated water is also an important climate change adaptation tool. Once the freshwater aquifer has been salted, it is not possible to return. A number of measures should be taken to reduce the consumption and improve aquifers' rainwater supply in order to overcome the crisis and sustainable management of fresh water resources. One of the ways to counter drought and climate change is the re-use of treated wastewater in agriculture, park-landscaping, forestry irrigation and tourism facilities. A two-day Datça Water and Climate Workshop is the basis of the project with the aim of discussing drought, water scarcity and limitation and climate change in the world and in Datça and solution proposals by academia and local / regional related institutions and organizations. In this way, the issue will be discussed with the participation of all actors, will be put forward and concrete steps will be taken will be identified and at the same time, climate change, drought and conscious water usage will be possible to raise awareness in the community.
