Bursa POPs in Textile
Bursa POPs in Textile
Measures to reduce emissions of unintentionally produced persistent organic pollutants (POPs) should be directed primarily to the source groups and already contaminated areas. Issues related to the management and disposal of POP chemicals should be understood and applied more consciously by the manufacturers who use/produce POP chemicals. Our project focuses on transforming the textile sector in line with the Best Available Techniques/Best Environmental Practices (BAT-BEP) principles on POPs. Identification and management of wastes from POP chemicals, keeping records of chemical use, concentrations, dates and other relevant documentation, making health and safety records of people handling or using hazardous chemicals, hazardous chemicals or wastes related to these chemicals, as well as issues such as emergency actions in the serious misuse of related chemicals and wastes should be explained to members of the textile sector, their employees, stakeholders and exemplified by practices and implementation of the legislation and by preventing, eliminating or restricting the use of POPs substances in the textile sector as soon as possible in order to minimize the emissions. The province of Bursa, where the textile industry is strong, was chosen as the project implementation region.
