Women determine what plants are grown in homes, they are mainly responsible for food and health care within the family. In terms of choice of species and varieties, they cultivate the plants they need for culinary, medicinal or cultural purposes, or for the market. They experiment with species and varieties and develop them further. The women preserve knowledge about cultivation practices of local species that are suited to the local environment as well as how they are prepared for use in traditional dishes and for other purposes. It is therefore well established that women are the custodians of agricultural biological diversity. This project is designed to have women in communities participate fully in the project. From the onset, the communities? Women will be involved in the project. Women will be trained and empowered for the day to day running of our programmes. Responsibilities shared by men and women equitably.
