Project Characteristics and Results
Project sustainability
The project initiatives implemented during the educational activities for the target audience of the project have a long-term impact, as they contributed to the formation of a conscious attitude towards saving energy resources, raising awareness of the causes and consequences of climate change. The project contributes to improving awareness, environmental education and raising the educational level of the population, public and government organizations about alternative solar energy, resource conservation and reducing the negative impact on the environment in the city of Maryina Gorka and the Pukhovichi district. By increasing the capacity of the local community, the project will improve the quality of life of children and stimulate the sustainable development of the region.
The use by the inhabitants of the region of the acquired knowledge in the field of resource saving and economy in everyday life has a positive effect on the global environmental situation, as well as in the socio-economic sphere.
Due to the installation of a photovoltaic station system and the introduction of energy-efficient measures within the framework of the project, the level of comfort for the children living, the working conditions for the employees of the SOS-Children's Village Maryina Gorka will be much higher. Saving money will improve the quality and expand the range of services for socially vulnerable categories of the population provided by the SOS Children's Village Maryina Gorka.
Children with special needs of psychophysical development (OPFR) and their parents have improved access to specialized correctional, developmental and diagnostic services thanks to the activities of the Center on the territory of the SOS-Children's Village Maryina Gorka. This is especially important for families who live in rural areas and have previously had difficulty accessing services, since they were provided in the settlement of the city. Rudensk, located 18 kilometers from the city of Maryina Gorka Now, services are provided in the city of Maryina Gorka, which has the best transport support.
The installation of photovoltaic stations and the installation of a wind turbine will be an example of the introduction and dissemination of advanced technologies aimed at saving energy, while the experience of the project will be applied in other regions of the Republic of Belarus.
Implementation of the Project in partnership with the State Educational Establishment "Pukhovichi District Center for Correction and Development Training and Rehabilitation" with the support of the Pukhovichi District Executive Committee contributes to the strengthening of civil society in the implementation of environmental protection measures.
The project provided improved awareness, environmental education and raising the educational level of the population, public and government organizations about alternative solar energy, energy saving and reducing the negative impact on the environment in the city of Maryina Gorka and the Pukhovichi district of the Minsk region. By building the capacity of the local community, the project improved the quality of life for children and ensured sustainable development in Maryina Gorka and the Pukhovichi District.
The overall commitment of SOS-Children's Villages International to the principles of environmental sustainability will provide further support for the achieved results of the project.
