Project Characteristics and Results
Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
After the installation of the central heating system for children with disabilities in the Daily Center, effective, comfortable and safe environment was created for them. By installing solar panels and arranging energy efficient lamps, the cost of electricity has been reduced and with this saving educational resources are being purchased for the Daily Center. It is also planned to purchase a sewing machine with this saved recourses and support young people with disabilities to gain relevant and necessary knowledge and skills for future employment. In four villages and in the Daily Center, waste containers were established and local community's awareness raising on negative effects of uncontrolled waste management, causes of climate change and human behavior has been conducted. In the Daily Center, a container has been added for collecting waste paper. It helps children to get used to environmental activities from an early age. After collecting certain amount of waste paper, it will be sold and the money received will be used in accordance with the Daily Center needs.
Significant Participation of Indigenous Peoples
Indigenous people were actively participated in the project activities. Project envisaged inclusion of local communities in different project activities. Local public school and kindergarten children were actively involved. Therefore, they are aware of all the possible threats caused by climate change. It should be noted that they have already started to change their behavior: reduced uncontrolled consumption of tap water etc.
