The project is aimed at improving the capacity and awareness of ethnic minority women in preserving dyestuff plants for brocade weaving, consequently raising the value of local products, increasing incomes and contributing to biodiversity conservation of Dong Van Plateau.
Specific activities include:
i. Raising awareness for ethnic minority communities, especially women in the sustainable planting, caring and harvesting of dye plants to maintain and sustain the supply of dyestuff for local brocade weaving activities
ii. Developing a nursery garden for indigenous dye plants and a community-based model of growing dye trees, in order to facilitate the practice of caring and preserving dyestuff plants in the locality.
iii. Establishing a network of ethnic groups using dyestuffs in brocade weaving, integrating indigenous cultural values associated with dyestuffs into local products, building the capacity of developing models of production, marketing and developing traditional brocade weaving products for ethnic minority women;
