The Project is aimed at raising awareness and capacity of local communities in conservation of the coral reef system in Hon Yen Islands, along with improving livelihoods and sustainable economic development in An Hoa Hai communes, Tuy An district, Phu Yen province.

Specific activities include:
i. Improving management capacity and responsibilities of local authorities at all levels and the communities? awareness for behavior changes in exploiting and protecting marine resources, especially coral reef ecosystem.
ii. Building a pilot model of communities participating in managing, monitoring and protecting Hon Yen coral ecosystem, delivering public services, protecting the environment and landscape in Hon Yen area.
iii. Evaluating the project models? effectiveness and developing a work plan to maintain the achieved results. Identifying locations and organizational arrangements for implementing community?s based co-management in the Proposal of establishing Hon Yen Marine Protected Area and turning Hon Yen coral reefs tourism into an OCOP product of Phu Yen province.
