Securing livelihoods through low emission pathway of Climate Smart Agro-Processing Facility in Kuru Kururu
The main objective of the project is to modernize the operations of the agroprocessing facility with a focus on increasing efficiency in the throughput using a climate smart approach. The project will see the acquisition of specialize equipment capable of working with the type of vegetables and fruits grown in the Kuru Kururu. The equipment includes; vegetable washer, vegetable pealer, vegetable slicer, vegetable dryer, pouch filing machine and a stainless-steel table. In addition, a photovoltaic system will be acquired to power the equipment. The emphasis is on reducing labour inputs and increase the outputs through a redesign throughput using a climate smart approach. Specifically, the project will;
1. Acquire agroprocessing equipment for new operations.
2. Construct facility to house equipment and processing throughput.
3. Install photovoltaic (PV) system and electrical upgrade to power processing equipment
