Enhancement of livelihood through pasture production and environment conservation
Lake Bogoria Sossiche Women Group is a Community Based Organization based at Mochongoi Ward, Maji Ndege Sub-location, and Baringo South Sub-County in Baringo County. The group was founded in January 2017 under the Department Of Social Services As A Self-Help Group for the promotion of community development through pasture production, beekeeping and a merry-go-round. Thereafter Lake Bogoria Sossiche Women Self Help Group CBO has grown in membership and activities to a recognized CBO engaged in different activities with the outstanding ones being the production of pasture in a large scale, breeding and animal fattening. The group has a current membership of 15 comprising of 1 man and 14 women.
The purpose and the core activities of the Lake Bogoria Sossiche Women Self Help Group is to promote activities that enhance environmental protection and preservation through activities such as bee keeping, agro-forestry, pasture production, environmental advocacy and all other activities that are pro-environment within the LBL. The main activity involved is pasture production and conservation. When this will have been done in large scale the group will engage in other value addition activities such as animal fattening and breeding. The mission and vision of Lake Bogoria Sossiche Women Self Help Group is to improve the local livelihoods by engaging in environmentally friendly and culturally acceptable activities.
