The endemic bird, white Collared Petrel population are found roosting on higher montane areas above 800m above sea level in Tanna and Futuna. Wth the increasing population living in villages surrounding the montane area of Toukousmera people eat the bird chicks when they find them. Little is known on the biology of the bird locally the bird population is threatened by the regular capturing of the chick for meat. The project will support the sustainable management of endemic bird habitat through provding alternatve protein source for the local so to reduce the harvesting of White Collared Petrel bird chicks. Activties include community awareness on the rarity of the bird locally and internationally and provide poultry for rearing for household protein.
