The proposed project had a demonstrative impact driven initiative of change through school students in urban and rural settings and have contributed in awareness building amid the urban and rural masses as to safeguarding and conserving the biodiversity and urban pollution.

Through the provision of mobile theatre and live shows, the project has helped raise the knowledge and information level of tens of thousands of high school students and teachers at 30 schools in Kabul and most of the students and teacher has taken actions for conservation of biodiversity, controlling of the urban pollution, taking care of their environment and securing a clean and healthy environment.


- GAALO during the start of the project, in close coordination with government stakeholders has conducted a rapid need assessment in 60 high schools from 8 districts and 17 city education districts. The overall aim of the assessment was to provide enough ground information for developing the contents for a main component of the project which was mobile theatres.
As a result, from 60 high schools, the data collected for rapid need assessment and a detailed need assessment report is developed and shared with GEF-SGP and NEPA.

- 26,230 high school students (12,930 male and 13,300 female) in 30 schools have understood the importance of biodiversity conservation and prevention of urban pollution through attending mobile theatre and live performance in their schools

- The capacity of 20 Kabul based Civil Society Organizations enhanced on biodiversity conservation and prevention of urban pollution

- Through a comprehensive Social Event, 200 Civil Society Organizations, high school students, teachers, principals and representatives from NEPA, MAIL, Municipalities, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Information and Culture, Deputy Youth Ministry, UN Agencies and private sector have express their commitment to help contribute in conservation of biodiversity, mitigation and prevention of urban pollution and stepping-up efforts protecting the environment, strengthening resilience and adaptive capacity to climate-induced impacts.
