Xiengmouak village cluster has a long history of settlement for more than 40 years and far from Luang Prabang city around 30-35 Km. Mostly, villagers are primarily engaged in shifting cultivation, livestock raising, Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFPs) collecting. LongLao 1 is one of the oldest villages, that mixture of ethnic minority, Khmou and Lao loum; while LongLao 2 is purely Hmong and Parnor is Khmou. These areas are amongst the least developed in Luang Prabang province due to its location in rural and in hill site, characterized by low levels of socio-economic development, high levels of food requirement, and low farm income (LonLlao 2 annual report 2018). Therefore, the villages? authorities basically have stronger advice on livelihood development and closely working with farmers either understanding the government strategy development plan, and promoted farmers engaging agriculture sustainable approach particularly integrating agriculture and NTFPs conservation. The project aims is to involve community on bio-diversification associate with watershed forest management at Namdong and Namsy watershed; to introduce the cash crops alternative plantation under forest to enhance farmers additional income generation associate with sustainable forest, water management approach; and to engage gender and youth participation on sustainable forest watershed management through cash crop plantation.
