Development of handicrafts for souvenir tourism Eld?s deer ( Ong Mung) Of the people in Nongsonghong and Sanamxay Village Sonnabouly District Savannakhet Province
Sonnabouly district Savannakhet province is rich of natural resources and biodiversity, including ecotourism sites Elda?s deer (Ong Mung) which is another important tourist destination in Savannakhet. However, Eld?s deer is a rare and endangered wildlife. Along the way to the tourist destination you will have to travel through two villages: Nongsonghong and Sanamxay, it is an affiliated village that close to the protected areas Eld?s deer (Ong Mung), both villages have handicrafts such as rice box, baskets, and bamboo handicrafts which are made by their own crafted, skill and passion in the production. However, such products are not actively promoted and commercially are not available as souvenirs to sell to tourists for market distribution, just only for domestic use. Tourism, networks and supply of tourism products are not yet fully developed. Due to difficult road conditions, people in surrounding area have not learned about tourism networking and supply chain products, people are not aware of the needs of tourists and do not know how to transform local products to be productive and can sell to tourists. The project aims to develop and conserve local intellectual property in sustainable way and value-added tourism. Provide products and goods to make more accessible to tourists in order to conserve and promote tourism, the conservation of tradition, the way of life remains with local people forever, by explore the potential of raw materials that people make from nature and the talent that peoples can do as well as create jobs and generate income for local people in 2 villages.
