Youth Climate Center: capacity development and new learning opportunities for rural youth
The main goal of the project is to develop capacities and ensure wide youth engagement into climate actions using such tools as knowledge sharing, new learning opportunities and practical engagements. To reach the tasks, the project has established a Youth Climate Center that unites active rural youth in Chernihiv region, provides them with new knowledge sharing and learning opportunities, as well as serves as a startup platform for youth climate initiatives. The project helps to develop ability of local young people to influence policies related to climate change on local and national levels. The initiative has strong social inclusion elements, including gender equality and people with disabilities. The project has a wide network of partners and stakeholders that ensure effective youth engagement and implementation of target activities.

Project Characteristics and Results
Notable Community Participation
All project activities are implemented with involvement of young people and for young people; in particular, the key task of the established Youth Climate Center is to develop the capacity of youth to implement environmentally friendly initiatives and projects, make environmentally responsible decisions, promote healthy lifestyles and form a personal life position, oriented at environmental integrity. The initiated youth movement "Composting in Communities ? Youth Acts!" broadens the opportunities for youth in creating their own businesses and "green" jobs, since it helps to spread over the developed composting practice, which is both an available resource for production of quality organic fertilizers, and a solution to an acute problem of burning dry vegetation in communities. Moreover, youth is the target audience of almost all public events in the framework of the project.
Gender Focus
The project pays special attention to gender equality; in particular, equal representation of women, along with men, in the project implementation has been supported. Additionally, a training course "Gender and Environment» has been introduced and distributed, and this course, along with other materials on gender equality, is also distributed via the Youth Climate Center.
