Youth capacity development for Leadership and Climate Action
The project is aimed at raising awareness, developing capacities, skills and competencies of youth to lead climate action on local, national, regional and global levels. The project helps to develop ability of young people to influence policies related to climate change and implement practical climate solutions through knowledge fair, best practices sharing, methodological guidelines, trainings, social media campaign and participation in national, regional and global networks. The project is able to reach large audiences, demonstrate innovation, impact and policy influence by developing Ukrainian youth capacities. These initiatives is linked to national policies, particularly NDCs, and UNFCCC global civil society mobilization efforts focusing on raising awareness and youth participation in global climate policy processes as well as to UN wide youth engagement efforts. The project has a strong and wide network of partners, including educational and scientific institutions, national CSOs? networks and top expert environment.

Project Characteristics and Results
Notable Community Participation
Since among project partners are the National Taras Shevchenko University, Polissya State University, Zhytomyr Agroecological College and other educational institutions, active youth is significantly involved into the project implementation. Moreover, a project coordinator is a local youth activist. She was selected to the GEF SGP Youth Advisory Group.
Gender Focus
The project pays special attention to gender equality and its practical application. The project ensures an appropriate gender balance of project participants and partners. Trainings, expert presentations and discussions are organized to support gender mainstreaming, share the experience of SGP in this sphere, as well as the impact of gender issues on community and society development in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
