Towards Building a Sustainable Honey Community Honey Enterprise in Canaries.
This project will help to promote conservation in the poorest district of Saint Lucia through the development of an apiculture programme for young people. The project objectives are: (i) to identify and procure standard beekeeping equipment and materials for 2 apiaries in Canaries; (ii) to undertake a Reforestation programme through the establishment of a fly nursery to provide forage for the Bees; (iii) to design and implement a training and mentorship programme to increase the capacity of grantees; (iv) To design and establish a small storage and processing structure to meet industry standards; (v) To design and implement a marketing plan for hive products.
