Empowerment of Mbororro women on Solar Energy installation to ensure milk preservation for sustainable Livelihoods
Madakson Cattle Breeders Group CIG will empower Mbororro women on Solar Energy installation to ensure milk preservation for sustainable livelihoods. This project aims to sustainably improve the income, health and education of the indigenous pastoralist Mbororo Women of Botombo Community in the West Region of Cameroon. Improved skills in the use of solar energy and solar equipment maintenance will enable these Mbororo Women of Botombo to be able to preserve their fresh milk and transform into cheese, butter and yoghurt in larger quantities; unlike before where lack of storage equipment and improved skills, limited output due to preservation problems.

Project Characteristics and Results
Notable Community Participation
? Youth in all the communities will be involved in leading the implementation of the project. For example youths in YOLO will be part of the installation of the solar panels and well as monitoring to ensure sustainability of the project. The coordinators of the sewing machines which will be installed in all the communities will be youth LED. ? Youth in all the target communities will also be involved as direct beneficiaries. For examples, Youth in communities of Yolo will constantly have solar light to study and do assignments at home, charge phones to connect and communicate with other youth beyond their communities. Youth will also benefits from the face marks provided by the project.
Gender Focus
In a typical indigenous Mbororo community, men are main decision makers and influences all activities in the community while women are more of observers of development rather than actors of development. Thus creating an imbalance of influence in the community between men and women. To address this, the project will sensitized men on the importance of women active participations in decision making in family and community issues. We shall make sure there is a gender balance when chosen communities members to be involved in the leadership and implementation of the project.
