Establishment of a Sustainable Medicinal Organic Herb Programme with value added processing for St. Lucia with its locus in Mon Repos?
The grantee wishes to establish a sustainable system for growing, processing, marketing and selling medicinal herbs in Saint Lucia. The project objectives are to: (i) establish a medicinal organic herb garden which will serve as a national demonstration and research site or plot at La Pointe, Mon Repos; (ii) develop and implement a capacity building and enhancement programme so as to improve the knowledge base and management skills of all primary project participants in permaculture techniques and other specialized training areas; (iii) establish a Value-Added HACCP Compliance Facility so as to set up a system for the buying and selling of medicinal organic herbs and plants for both local and overseas markets; and (iv) develop a 3-year Strategic Marketing Plan and prepare a five-year Business Plan for SBA new entity.

Inovative Financial Mechanisms
A manual alogn with a brochure as well as a documentary video will be used to capture the lessons along with various knwoeldge products.
Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
A three-year break even analysis is prepared and submitted to SGP within three months of project commenecment to determine the viabiliyt of the project and to guide the planning process.
