Promote the use of Renewable Energy for improving livelihood of Bunong Indigenous Peoples at Kbal Romeas village
?Promote the renewable energy for the contribution to Kbal Romeas community?s livelihoods? project aimed to help 52 households of Bnong Indigenous people (IP) who had been affected by lower Sesan 2 hydropower construction with access to electricity and clean water at their resettlement area at Kbal Romeas along Sre Pok, a Mekong tributary, within Sesan district, Stung Treng province. The project made available electricity for household lighting and clean water for household consumption from a solar powered pump and a water distribution system. To ensure its sustainability the project established a water management and utilization committee and training was provided to build their capacity for effective operation and maintenance of the system. This resulted in the IPs having sufficient time to fully participate in protection of their 7835.36-hectare ancestral land, forest, fisheries and environment for the benefits of the IPs and their next generations. Documentation of lessons and good practices from the project implementation for sharing with other IPs inside and outside of the country forms a part of the project activities.
