Preventing Land Degradation through Green Infrastructure Technology in Ngiwal State
Preventing Land Degradation through Green Infrastructure Technology in Ngiwal State
The Ngermechau Klobak Association (Ngermechau) is a traditional community-based men?s organization that is comprised of the chiefs representing the hamlets of Ngiwal State. Ngermechau, with the help of the Ngiwal State Government, constructed a Multipurpose Community Center in April 2018. Before the community center can be fully commissioned, the land around the center must be properly secured so that it does not erode causing structural damage to the Center, safety hazards, and contribute to land degradation of the surrounding area. The community center, built on a small hill, is vulnerable to soil erosion because the original hill was spliced and leveled with the existing soil. The disturbance of the original site and absence of adequate sustainable land management (stormwater drainage). The key objectives for this project are listed below:

A. Conduct feasibility study of land surrounding the Ngiwal Community Center
B. Develop parking lot and landscaping plan utilizing green technology and other CC adaptation measures to prevent soil erosion, collapse of sediment, and sinkholes.
C. Promote green technology through sustainable land management
