The project aims to achieve the following:
o Overall objective :
- Contributing to the efficient classification of domestic solid waste in Da Nang city through integrated waste management models in Ngu Hanh Son and Hoa Vang districts in order to reduce waste, especially ocean plastic waste.
o Specific objectives :
- Enhance the awareness and capacity on integrated domestic and marine plastic waste management for communities, grassroots government officials and social organizations in the project areas.
- Develop and pilot the community-based models of integrated waste management (starting from waste sorting at households to collection and transportation in residential areas) and saying no to plastic waste, contributing to reduce marine waste.
- Replicate the project results and integrated waste management models along with the conditions of Da Nang city.
o Specific expected results:
- The Project is successfully launched and project activities are fully communicated to local communities, grassroots authorities.
- A core apparatus is established for integrated waste management in the community, communication and training activities are organized to disseminate knowledge on integrated management of domestic waste, plastic waste and marine plastic waste to social organizations, local governments and communities in residential areas.
- A pilot model of integrated waste management, saying NO to plastic waste in residential areas is developed and implemented.
- Members of the Integrated Waste Management Group are aware of, competent and skilled to implement and advocate about 3R, marine plastic waste reduction and other model-based themes.
- A pilot model of organic fertilizer production from domestic waste is developed and implemented for households in rural areas.
- Project performance in Ngu Hanh Son and Hoa Vang districts, the implementation of pilot models on community-based waste management groups and organic fertilizer production from domestic waste are fully documented.
