Promoting institutional and financial sustainability for the sound biodiversity management, governance and sustainable livelihood activities with local communities in the WETO socio-ecological production landscape in the Volta Region of Ghana
This project seeks to ensure long term recognition and implementation of the socio-ecological production landscape strategy and plans that was developed by local stakeholders under the prior phases of the
COMDEKS and to promote further sustainability and upscaling of socio-ecological production landscapes and seascapes (SEPLS) conservation, including efforts to institutionalize the landscapes in a culturally, socio-economically and technically appropriate and feasible manner, based on consultations and safeguards. The project is aimed at mainstreaming the WETO landscape strategy and approaches in appropriate production and conservation policies and plans, including local development plans, agriculture/forestry/fisheries/tourism and other sector policies and strategies, and the protected areas (co-management, ICCA, OECM, and others) in Ghana.

Project Characteristics and Results
Notable Community Participation
Some chiefs and opinion leaders along the landscape were consulted in the designing of the project. The project implementation will involve the introduction of consultants to the key stakeholders at an inception workshop. This will serve as an awareness creation to sensitize the stakeholders of the essence and benefits of the study to the landscapes. The communities will be requested to nominate a member as link and guide to the consultants. This in a way build confidence. Traditional authorities and the youth will be involved in all aspects of the project including workshops, validation among others.
