Project Characteristics and Results
Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
All of the community - young and old - will be involved in the process of developing and working on the sea-wall. Young men as mentioned earlier, will be working on the building up of the sea-wall. Young and older (but strong) men will be key people in building the sea-wall and women will be stewards as in those preparing and serving food for the builders.
Gender Focus
As mentioned elsewhere in the responses to the earlier questions, young men will be the builders, and women will be the stewards in providing food and serving them to the builders. They will be also providing drinks to the builders. The older men (70 years of age and above) are mostly the decision makers and the planners that plan and put the planning blueprints to the builders. There is close collaborations and consultations with the builders prior any plan is endorsed by the whole community. Thus, there is balanced decision making and equal division of labour in the community in respect to the project.
