The project aims to establish a formal conservation site to protect the endangered dugong and green turtle species.

The project will establish a 100m Conservation No-Go-No-Take Zone

? to protect the dugong and green turtle seas grass meadows and nesting grounds, by engaging with all peoples at the community level.
? Capacity building and baseline survey and establishment of Transects.
? Establishment and Development of Alternative Livelihood Options for the Community
? Development of a Conservation Management Strategy and a Conservation Management Plan
? Facilitate dialogue and partnership with the national and provincial governments and the communities.

Expected Outputs:

1. Community mobilisation and capacity Building demarcation

2. Survey of Dugong and Green Turtle Species

3. Establishment of Alternative Livelihood completed

4. Completion of CBRM and Conservation Plan Completed and Launch
