Cultivation of Industrial Hemp project? Implemented by women led organization called Nawae Nai Afghan Women Association (NNAWA). The association pioneered cultivation of Industrial Hemp in Afghanistan with the support from National Environmental Agency and Agriculture Ministry of Afghanistan and funding and technical support of Global Environment Facility Small Grants Programme. The project had cultivated about 3 hectares of land on which the incredible results of lush green industrial hemp crop on a three hectares of land.

Industrial Hemp has numerous environmental results and serve as sink for abortion of Carbon Dioxide and provide habitat for the biodiversity. Alongside environmental benefits, the project directly involved about 120 women and their livelihoods improved. Women were intensively trained on processing the plant and getting the fiber and seed. They learnt making different handcrafts products from industrial hemp fiber, and they were able to prepare various types of decoration pieces. During the training, they were also provided cash as incentive for their motivation to accomplish the activities and also learn a sustainable business. The project results were highly appreciated by UNDP Country Office Afghanistan. The Association director received an appreciation letter from the UNDP Resident representative.
