The objectives of the project ?Protect the Nature Protect the Health Initiative in Nuristan? were (1) To rehabilitate eradicated green area by planting trees in schools and create environment protection concept in students and teachers (2) To raise school student and teachers knowledge regarding the environmental issues to enhance environment protection concept in community.

The Hewad Palan Organization coordinated the project activities with provincial partners upon the signing of Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) and the project was inaugurated as per the project plan. There was great people participation during the plantation in schools. The school?s students and teachers were highly motivated. They welcomed the HPO initiatives.

The Hewad Palana Organization (HPO) achieved the objective of the project by accomplishing the implementation of all the projects of activities. The project carried out plantation by involving the schools students and teachers. The awareness of school students and teachers was raised by the project through series of activities by the project team in Nuristan province.

HPO established environment committee in 27 schools namely Aesha sideqa girls school, Omar-bin-alkhitab, Dewa girls and Dewa boys school, Sosom primary school, Pronz school, Kashtaki school, girls Eshtivi school, Eshtivi boys school, Khadijatulkobra school, Kordar Ulia school, Darnisha school, Qaziabad, Paqla school, Saprigal school, Corder sulfa school, Wama qadin school, Bni primary school, Actaband school, Pons school, Wama male school, Darul Ulom, Cantiwa Darul Ulom, Nuristan Province Education Directorate, Economics Institute of Nuristan, Vant High school, Imam Ibn-Ahmad Darul olum, and Shingal primary school. HPO also raise school students and teachers knowledge regards environments and natural resources protection.

Girls, boys and youth groups were involved in the project implementation and this has raised their awareness on role of forest for protection of environment. They took responsibilities and were very motivated to take care of the trees planted in their schools.

HPO believes that the awareness to educate people about environment and natural resources conservation has direct impact on environment so it is highly important to educate the children and youth of the society. In the project, the teachers and student?s participation was vital and contributed in to the successful implementation of activities.

Hewad Palana Civil Society organization got a written commitment from the administration of all the targeted schools and the community elders that they will take care of the planted trees. In their commitment they have also mentioned that the schools administration of the targeted schools will continue the awareness raising activities in the schools beyond the project for the coming years.
