Unmask the Environment: Women in Environmental Protection and Poverty Alleviation
Surgical masks widely used by population pose a serious risk for the environment while for low-income families they represent a considerable cost if used properly. Project is focused on environment protection through commitment of students and activists in services and awareness of community. The project will engage 80 marginalized women and girls in production of multiuse recyclable masks of 100% cotton fabrics as well as on how to run small businesses. The project will equip 10 women with sewing machines. The project will be implemented in the municipality of Laci ? Kurbini in the northern part of Albania. The masks produced will follow the WHO guidelines consisting in a three-layer construction
