Social inclusion and employment of people with disabilities and other marginalized groups through the cultivation of medicinal herbs
Social inclusion and employment of people with disabilities and other marginalized groups through the cultivation of medicinal herbs
People with disabilities in North Macedonia who are 10% of the total population, women and young people, are the most common categories of citizens in our country who are socially excluded, unemployed and do not have a constant inflow of livelihood. Also, the non- governmental organizations of persons with disabilities in North Macedonia, including ours, have constant problems for sustainability. Following the work of similar organizations in the region and in the world, we came up with the idea to start growing and producing plant herbs that can be successfully grown in our region such as lavender, mountain tea, mint, calendula, etc. To grow these plants, we plan to educate and hire 5-6 people with disabilities, 3 unemployed women and 3 young people up to 30 years old.

This would significantly contribute to the self ? sustainability of the NGO and building its capacities on the one hand and on the other hand preserving the environment and the opportunity to improve the quality of the environment in urban areas through urban greenery.

The project ?Social inclusion of persons with disabilities and other marginalized groups of citizens through employment? will include:

- Planting a lavender plantation (2000m2) on the territory of the Municipality of Veles, which we will receive as a donation from the NGO ?Biovita? from Kavadarci, processing of 6 rows of donated lavender which includes extraction of lavender oil and sinking of flower for tea and bags.
- Setting up of three greenhouses (5mx25m) with a drip system in which will be planted several types of tea that are characteristic for our region (mountain tea, mint and calendula)
- Installation of a solar energy dryer that will serve for drying the produced lavender and teas
- Installation of a distiller to extract oil from the planted plants
- Education and training of 5-6 people with disabilities, 3 women and 3 young unemployed people.
With the realization of the project we want to achieve the following:

- Self- sustainability of the NGO
- Planting plants and growing them in a healthy and biological environment from which we will extract oil and produce ecological teas.
- Socialization, inclusion, education and training of 5-6 people with disabilities, 3 women and 3 young people up to 30 years old.
