Greening Kribi (l&ll); Household Access to Low Carbon Technology, LED and Solar Panels:

* Information and education of communities on the importance to preserve the environment by reducing Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions and promote good practices through a week radio program
During this reporting period, we conducted Information and education of communities on the importance to preserve the environment by reducing Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions and promote good practices through a week radio program. To reach our target we organized Information and education of communities on the importance to preserve the environment by reducing Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions and promote good practices through a week radio program and Kribi I&II community members from diverse background are being sensitized on climate change.
At the end of this activity, 150 persons were sensitized including 70 women and 50 youths and 30 men. The gap analyses of this activity shows that all sub activities plan to reach our main target were realize, and this activity is complete during his normal period. we continue to monitor to collect short- and long-term effects and impacts
- Radio programs in French, English and Bagyeli languages have been produced and broadcasted daily for information and sensitization.
- Kribi I&II community members from diverse background are being sensitized on climate change.

* Promotion of waste management in 4 communities in the Kribi I$ II municipality: limitation of plastic and non-degradable materials and promote climate just practices through 3 capacity building workshops on waste management. (recycling, producing compost)
Seventy five (75) people consisting of 30 women, 30 youth and 15 men were trained both theoretically and practically on the following aspects
- Water, land and air pollution,
- Ozone layer depletion,
- Water and forest conservation,
- Soil erosion and land degradation
- Negative impact of climate change
- Recycling waste and compost production
- House hold waste management
- Advantages and disadvantages of using organic manure and synthetic fertilizer
- Climate smart low external input agriculture
- Sustainable development and food security

Training manuals produced and documented were used as the basis for the above training courses by the various resource persons. This activity was completed during the period under reporting and all targets were met satisfactorily. Reports and images of the training session were documented and are available.
In terms of success the participants were not only taught the theoretical basis of waste management but were able to apply concepts learned in their daily lives in terms of improving agriculture, health as well as enhancing their livelihood and incomes. The participants were also very impressed with the new knowledge learned and made commitments on personal practices to mitigate the effects of climate change in their respective homes and communities.

* Train community members on the importance of solar energy as solar panel maintenance experts
25 people were trained (10women, 10 youth and 5men) as solar community experts. Training modules produced and available

Activity 1 5: Putting in place and training of Solar management committee in Kribi I and Kribi II
Solar management committee (made up of 4 women, 3 youth and 3 men) in place and functional in Kribi I and Kribi II (2 solar committees overall)
The beneficiaries were introduced to a device called a multimeter which is used to test the voltage of a battery. They were then introduced to a solar panel and shown how to determine the polarity of the panel using the multimeter, following which they were then shown how to install the panel on the roof of the house. An inverter was also demonstrated and its use is to convert direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC). All these were fully demonstrated and shown how to detect and rectify faults. In this way it would not be necessary to bring in a technician into the community every time there is a problem.
This activity was fully and satisfactorily completed during this period under report. Pictures and reports are documented and available for dissemination.

* Provision of start up support to 15 women and 10 youth selected for entrepreneurial initiatives.
During the reporting period, a call for request for support for green businesses was launched by the project. This saw over 50 applicants submit their request. A team of 3 entrepreneurs served as judges of the application and the best 15 were selected based on feasibility of the business idea, impact on the environment and gender. Some of the selected businesses were on agriculture, recycling of old shoes and tyres to produce new shoes, handbags and purses and recycling of plastic bottles to decorative plastic flowers.
Support provided to 15 selected entrepreneurial initiatives (8 owned by women and 7 by youth)

**Provide garbage bins to hotels and tourist guides for proper waste management. 150 garbage bins were distributed to hotels, tour guides and community members. Two garbage bins each were donated to beneficiaries for waste management purposes, one for organic waste and another for plastic waste. This was a great success as beneficiaries had issues in waste disposal and could now effectively manage and dispose of their waste in an environmental friendly manner.
