Sustainable Development Center: innovative solutions for local community development and safety
The project is aimed at empowering local communities to promote and implement the principles of sustainable development, as well as disseminating knowledge and skills to achieve Sustainable Development Goals at the community level. The project plans to establish a Sustainable Development Center in the village Kozyntsi of Kyiv region on the basis of a village culture club in order to expand community opportunities, disseminate knowledge and best practices in the field of sustainable development, nature-oriented solutions and green recovery. On the one hand Center will serve as a demonstration platform for low carbon energy technologies and sustainable design in public buildings, and on the other hand it will serve as a sustainable tool for dissemination of the best and innovative practices of sustainable community development. In addition, active work will be carried out to raise public awareness, build capacity, develop practical skills, involve children, youth, community and activists in sustainable community development, environmental protection, environmental management, sustainable consumption, resource-saving technologies, waste management, green recovery, etc.

Project Characteristics and Results
Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
Communities obtained more information on issues of sustainable community development, environment protection, rational use of natural resources, sustainable consumption, resource-saving technologies, waste management, introduction of nature-based and sustainable solutions, green recovery, environmental safety, etc., which in turn will contribute to the protection of environment, improvement of livelihoods, socio-economic development of communities, expansion of their rights and social opportunities. The Center for Sustainable Development, established in the village of Kozyntsi, strengthened the capacity of the community. The center could serve as a powerful multifunctional platform for providing leisure time opportunities, organizing events and interest groups, co-working for all members of the community, including children and youth, women, IDPs, persons with special needs, etc.
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
In the framework of the project, a regular exchange of information was maintained between the Project team, the Irpin Town Council, representatives of the Kozyntsi Village Council, the Partnership network "Education for Sustainable Development in Ukraine", the CSOs network of GEF SGP, the National University "Kyiv-Mohyla Academy", the University of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine, organizers and participants of the National Student Forum. New partnerships were initiated with the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation, MHP company, the ?MHP ? to Community? Charitable Fund, communities of Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, and Cherkasy oblasts. A broad information campaign, exchange of experience, development of networks and partnerships took place also through organization and participation in international and national level events. In particular, the project team organized and took part in the National Student Forum, the All-Ukrainian Student Conference, a webinar on culture, and a seminar of the MHP Sustainable Development School. The information about experience acquired and major project achievements was regularly disseminated in the mass media, in particular, on the website http://www.ecoosvita.org.ua and duplicated on the relevant page in social networks.
