Sustainable agro-ecological initiatives for green recovery and broad local communities engagement on Polissya landscape
The project is focused on a community green recovery. It will develop and implement the technology of medicinal and niche plants on the agricultural landscape of Polissya region, combat climate change, support small farmers and landowners. Medicinal plants will be grown on the 5-hectare plot located on the field of Polissya National University: chamomile, calendula, lemon balm, black cumin, milk thistle and amaranth. The project will learn the technological aspects related to the growing medicinal plants and their post-harvest processing on particular landscape. The project will establish a long-term experimental plot to study organic technologies for growing medicinal plants in order to develop methodological basis of the technological process with further trainings and adaptation on private farms. The information component of the project will include a broad dissemination of the best practices in the landscape approach to land degradation, as well as an agro-tourism development to support rural women, youth, and local communities in general during the COVID-19 pandemic.
