Strengthening management and improving Kouy IPs Communities livelihood in order to adapt with COVID-19 situation through conservation and development of Community Forestry.
The project will provide support the Kuy IPs and communities in the project target areas, which are affected by the Covid-19 pandemic to i) adapt the new way of living through conducting public and households COVID-19 awareness raising activities, improve the implementing of Covid-19 prevention measures and document an educational video followed the Ministry of Health principles and guidance, which will be produced in the Kuy language to promote ethnic languages and preserve their culture. Project also monitoring the good practices and changing attitudes of IPs community members in the context of Covid-19; ii) increase the efficiency of management and conservation of forest, wildlife, fish resources and preservation of norms/traditions and IPs conservation Areas by strengthening CF management capacity and regular patrols of Community Forest Areas. Project also provide support to CF committee to identify IPs conservation areas such as Prey Neak Ta, putting demarcation poles around those areas and get official recognition from commune authorities. In addition to that project also produce 200 CF demarcation poles, 300 small signed boards, planting 3,200 small trees, releasing 10,000 fish fingerlings, building 5,000 m of forest fire road and provide starting up capital to three CF commits for revolving fund; iii) improve livelihood of Kuy IPs communities by introducing and practicing 2 ha of Agro-forestry and establish 3 Saving groups, 3 chicken raising groups and 3 vegetable growing groups; and iv) document good practices and lesson leans from implementation is also part of this project.
