The Blooming of eco-Valley in Khammouane
The core value of community forest conservation for sustainable development is eventually leading to the ecotourism. The tour of the Thakhek loop ("The Loop") attracts many tourists. Its route includes the valley going from the Nakai Plateau to the villages of Natane and Konglor, where the Konglor-Natane cave is located in. The site is one of 10 highlights of Laos natural sites and is highly visited by visitors in 2019. The increasing number of tourists coming to visit the cave results in rising of wastes pollution in consequence, risk of degradation within the cave and in the National Protected Area. The project aims at highlighting the relevance of ecotourism and enhancing the involvement of local communities for eco-friendly activities and will include local micro-entrepreneurs in an eco-tourism business model that promotes circular economy and the use of local resources.
