Piloting indigenous plants as ?green belt? for mitigation of forest fires in Phuc Loc village, Xuan Loc commune, Phu Loc district, Thua Thien Hue province.
The project will raise the community?s awareness and knowledge about cultivating seedlings and growing forests with indigenous trees, thereby contributing to conservation of forest tree genes, prevention of soil degradation and forest fires.

The following key activities will be implemented:
- Conducting trainings and demonstrations to raise communities? awareness about sustainable forest management and biodiversity conservation.
- Providing the local people with knowledge and skills in harvesting, seedling, planting indigenous trees.
- Planting forests in a sustainable way through the construction of green belts to prevent forest fires and preserve indigenous tree gene sources
- Implementing demonstration models for replication in the whole Xuan Loc commune and other locations.
