Project Characteristics and Results
Gender Focus
Gender issues and female empowerment are key to the project and are an integral part of its approach to development. The active involvement of women in new alternative economic practices through agro, eco and health tourism will have a positive impact on gender issues. Strengthening social inclusion of women, youth and vulnerable groups within the project will be ensured by supporting local community initiatives to promote gender issues, support vulnerable groups, youth participation, gender equality in practices and sharing of benefits derived from project activities. As the objects of ecotourism are both cultural values, traditions, everyday life and national rituals, the new tourism programmes are expected to involve women significantly in developing services related to culture, national traditions, community life and crafts that are preserved by the local population.
Capacity - Building Component
The capacity needs of the grantee will be met through a series of educational trainings, the establishment of a pilot demonstration nursery on natural resource reproduction for subsequent ecosystem restoration and the introduction of new alternative economies, which will generally increase the capacity of the Hazrati Emom community.
