Hope Town Zero Waste Demonstration Project Phase 2
Hope Town Zero Waste Demonstration Project Phase 2
The Hope Town Zero Waste Demonstration Project Phase 2 aims to expand the Resource Diversion and Waste
Mitigation integrated community based, student lead Zero Waste Project. Our goal is to further develop and create a
Waste Diversion model for the Elbow Cay Community and other Out Islands and Cays in The Bahamas in order to
showcase a whole systems approach to Resource Diversion and Waste Mitigation as a community (year-round
residents, second homeowners and visitors). Through a series of activities and local initiatives listed below, we wish
to create a template that other islands in the Bahamas may implement at different levels and scales. The project plan,
activities, metrics gathered, lessons learned, and outcomes will be shared as Open-Source Information through
multiple Knowledge Mobilization (KM) Platforms listed below.
? Reduce Program through Community outreach activities on Composting and the use of Reusables in lieu
of singles use disposables.
? Recycle Program through Community Outreach Activities, and the Provision of Recycling Technology,
Products and Infrastructure.
? Refuse Program through Community Outreach Activities.
